Hi, I'm almost a 30 year old man, and I'm doing awful financially at the moment (Thank God my tax return was good). I have about 5 years of security experience, 8 years of customer service experience, and have even been a former sales manager (sales wasn't my bag). Anyway, I was about 1 semester away from graduating with a Bachelor's in Public Safety Management (18 credits left to go) and then right before my final semester I maxed out in loans and Pell Grant. I need 2k to finish that Bachelor's. So I'm saying, "Screw it, let's do IT instead". Now I'm getting a couple different stories on how to break into the field, but it seems that all roads begin with the Comptia A+ certification. I already took IT fundamentals and I'm good with that, and this is a lot of information to take in but I'm planning on getting my A+ no matter what. Here is the real question: Will this A+ be enough to get into the field? Also, how far is this cert really going to get me? Am I just going to land a lousy job at the Geek Squad for a lousy $10 an hour or do I need to also get my A+, Net+, Security+ before I can even do that? The end goal is to get my CCNA and get into networking. Advice? Please help. I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
